Boston bombing

Posted: April 26, 2013 by kfusari in Uncategorized

I was informed the other day by a customer at my job that the man responsible for the bombings in Boston was not read his Miranda rights. If a suspect is a public safety threat as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is, Miranda rights do not have to be informed. According to this article (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323789704578444940173125374.html) a judge decided to advise him of his rights on Monday April 22nd. I was much happier to know that he was not read his rights because when you commit such a violent act that injured so many innocent people you don’t deserve any mercy. Many people believe that they would have gotten more information out of the suspect if they continued not to inform him of his rights. The same article says that

Under a 1984 Supreme Court ruling, a public-safety exception allows investigators to question suspects for an unspecified period without giving them a Miranda warning. The exception is designed to give law-enforcement officials time to determine if there are other threats to public safety.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a terrorist and knew exactly what his actions would cause. I hope he is found guilty on all counts and rots in jail. It would be nice if there was more information extracted from him though and maybe he can lead the police to other terrorists he may have been associated with.

Boston bombing video game

Posted: April 25, 2013 by megz7491 in Uncategorized

I was just looking at the daily crime news for New York and I saw an article that was very disturbing. This article was post April 24th just about a week after the horrific bombings in Boston that left three people dead and hundreds injured. Apparently people who chose to remain anonymous created a video game modeled after the bombings in Boston. The character in the game is supposed to avoid pressure cooker bombs to stay alive. This absolutely disgust me it is one thing to have violence in a video game, but to model one after a tragedy is just wrong.  Then i figured id do some research it just seemed not very long ago video games weren’t very violent. Now it feels as if violent video games are everywhere. Most of today’s video games have some type of violence. I found an article on video games and violence and it said five of the top ten video games recently released have extreme violence in them because they are rated M. Many people are beginning to believe violent video games lead to more violent behavior. This may or may not be true. But i know that video games have become so much more violent and they look much more real than when I was growing up. The public has embraced the violent video games and they are very popular so I am not surprised that their are so many of them. But I feel that modeling a violent video game after a tragic event like Columbine or the bombing in Boston is just crossing a line.

Thank GOD that they found the two people that committed this horrid act. Its amazing how fast they found them. That is great police work and public observation. I can’t believe that a news reporter was concerned that she pronounced one of their names correctly. The Russia. Government was concerned enough about the older brother to ask the FBI to check him out. They found nothing wrong? Where did they look or investigate?

Central Park 5

Posted: April 18, 2013 by kfusari in Uncategorized

Central Park 5 is a documentary about the highly popular Central Park jogger case from 1989. Five boys were convicted of raping and brutally assaulting a woman jogging through Central Park the night of April 19,1989. This documentary was very heartbreaking especially for someone like me who wasn’t alive the time of the crime; therefor didn’t even know about it. The boys were innocent but unfortunately they were, in fact, in Central Park that night and the forensic technology in the 80s was not like it is today. The boys were only in the age range of 14-19 if I remember correctly. 14 years old is still a child in my eyes. I don’t believe that these boys would have had the capacity to commit this heinous crime. All five boys came from middle-class, average households where they all had decent relationships with their parents. They all attended school and had friends. They did not have a juvenile record and were never accused of a crime let alone one of this magnitude. The boys were all found guilty and spent an average of seven years in prison for a crime they did not commit. In the interview, a few of the (now men) said that they were forced to grow up very quickly and missed out on normal adolescence. I saw major discouragement and loss of faith in a higher power and in humanity itself in the faces of these poor men. I’m very hurt for these innocent people and I know there are many more out there like them. Unfortunately the criminal justice system isn’t so just. I hope that either myself or a loved one is never in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wouldn’t know what to do if someone close to me goes to jail for a crime they did not commit and there would be nothing I could do to help.

Boston Marathon

I was going to blog about the Glee episode that was on the other night. It was about a school shooting or that was what you thought. I told my daughter that it was too soon to air something like this. Sure enough about ten minutes later the news said that there had been some fallout about it.
As I started to write I turned in the television. It was full of the explosions at the Boston Marathon. There were two explosions there and one at the JFK Library. The news reported that there were two confirmed deaths. There were also a lot of people injured. What is wrong with people?

public fear of crime

I found this article about how what we see in the media and on the news about crime. Makes the public fearful of crime in an unrealistic way. When the media and the news constantly show news about crimes such as murder. It makes the public fearful of all crime. Even though in reality crime rates have been at a low for years.

Family

Posted: April 8, 2013 by 1goodkid in Uncategorized

How do you define family! Do you define it as the family that you are born into; or as the people that are always there for you? In my view; it would be the people that may not be related to you by blood, but are always there for you. Some families that are related by blood, don’t act like they are related or that they know each other. I have seen family members that see each other and don’t or won’t acknowledge each other. That is truly a sad thing.
